This is some follow up on Brad Gilbert’s comment on “Make your Opponent hit One More Ball”.
I looked up some stats on percentage of points won by professional players. According to what I found Roger Federer won approximately 54% of the total,points in his career. Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev and other top players today tend to win approximately 52-55% of the points in their matches. This shows how close matches can be and how critical it is to be able to sustain rallies. We tend to remember the great shots hit by players but unless you are completely overmatched against an opponent you win matches by sustaining rallies with steady, solid shots. Personally I would apply the word RELENTLESS to Djokovic and 24 major singles titles bares witness to that. He just always keeps coming. It seems like his opponents look at him and think “When is this guy gonna Quit”.
The answer is he doesn’t. He just keeps coming.
Keep the rallies going with solid play and watch your success rate increase!
